Wilson Gray Bogan, age 81, of Maysville, WV passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
He was born on August 24, 1941 in Warm Springs, Virginia and was a son of the late Charles Hendricks Bogan and Loma Mae (Vandevander) Bogan. In addition to his parents, Wilson was preceded in death by five brothers, Edward Bogan, Charles William Bogan, Earl Bogan, Zola Bogan and infant Roy Bogan.
Wilson is survived by three daughters, Rachel Bogan of Rig, WV Angela (Shawn) Bowen of Moorefield, WV and Jennifer Bogan of Rig, WV; Norma Bogan and Shirley Willis of Rig, WV; and two grandsons, Christian Bowen and Jacob Bowen both of Moorefield, WV.
One sister, Regena (Virgil) Judy of Seneca Rocks, WV
Three brothers: Jimmie (Carolyn) Bogan of Seneca Rocks, WV, Roger (Debbie) Bogan of Brandywine, WV and Bobby (Inez) Bogan of Franklin, WV, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Wilson attended Pendleton County Schools. He retired from American Woodmark after 40 years. Wilson was a member of the Lighthouse Community Church where he enjoyed singing and serving as a deacon. His faith and love for God were a constant source of strength throughout his life. In his youth, Wilson and his brothers were avid players of softball and football. He was a fan of local sports and enjoyed attending his grandson’s ballgames.
Wilson’s family will receive friends Tuesday, May 16th from 11 – 1 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Dan Sterns and Evangelist Lewis Paugh. Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, WV.
