Warren G. Brake, age 93 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.
Mr. Brake was born July 12, 1927 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Conway George Brake and Connie M. (Kite) Brake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte (James) Brake in 1976; infant grandson, Quinton Brake; two brothers, Claude Brake and Gene Brake; one sister, Rosalee (Brake) Glisan.
Mr. Brake is survived by one son, Christopher W. (Stephanie) Brake of Petersburg, WV; two daughters, Carol A. (Sam) Bricker of Smithsburg, Maryland and Kathie B. (Tim) Huffman of Petersburg, WV; five grandchildren, Kelly Bricker, Kevin Bricker, Tanner Brake, Madison Brake, Ethan Brake and multiple furry grandchildren; two brothers, Norris Brake of Petersburg, WV and George Brake of Frederick, MD; one sister, Joan (Jim) Wilson of Frederick, MD and a special friend, Jean Swick of Petersburg, WV.
Mr. Brake graduated from Petersburg High School and Shephard College with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. He later received his Masters Degree in Elementary Administration at West Virginia University.
He was in the United States Army serving in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of Potomac Highlands VFW Post 6454 and American Legion Post 78. He was a former member of the Optimist Club of Frederick, MD. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member Lodge No. 145 A.F. & A.M. and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was a former member of I. O.O. F. Lodge 408 and Encampment. He was also a member of the Maryland Retired Teachers Association and the Pendleton County Retired Teachers. He was an Elementary School teacher and Principal for Frederick County, Maryland for 28 years and teacher and principal in Pendleton County for 11 years and retired in June 1989. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Petersburg, WV.
