Virginia “Ginny” Irene (Summerfield) Bland, age 83 of P.O. Box 152, Petersburg, WV passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at her home.
Virginia was born on September 27, 1937 in Job, WV and was a daughter of the late Hayes Earl Summerfield and Elva Mamie (Hedrick) Summerfield Cooper.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by one daughter, Iva Marie “Susie” Bland; stepfather, Joe Cooper, one brother, Earl “Bud” Summerfield.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Gereald W. Bland of 67 years, grandson, Wilton Frederick “Fred” Bland; step-daughter, Iris Cofield; four sisters, Eleanor Barr of Romney, WV, Mary Caudill of Dixon, KY, Thelma Richardson of Warsaw, VA and Wilma “Betsy” Elliott (Rod) of Wadestown, WV; one brother, Joe Cooper (Sandra) of Harman, WV; three sisters-in-law, Della Irene Hinkle of Dayton, VA, Mary Lou Hill (Bill) of Salem, VA, Carol Sponaugle (Adam) of Hilton Head, SC; one brother-in-law, Samson D. Bland (Nan) of Martinsburg, WV; several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a longtime friend, Nancy Roby and care-giver, Wanda Barr.
Virginia was a member of Seneca Rocks Presbyterian Church.
Graveside services will be on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 11 AM in North Fork Memorial Cemetery at Riverton, WV with the Rev. Fletcher Hutcheson officiating.
