Twila Sue Berg

Twila Sue Berg, age 66 of Maysville, WV passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at her home.  

Twila was born on January 18, 1957 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late Leon Bob Berg and Rosetta Ellen (Heavener) Berg.  In addition to her parents, Twila was preceded in death by an infant brother, Danny Leon Berg and an infant sister, Tina Jane Berg; an infant great nephew, Tristan Drake Sherman.

Twila is survived by two sisters, Wreatha (Walter “Skip”) Funkhouser of Moorefield, WV and Pansy (Ronnie) Ours of Moorefield, WV; two nieces, Valerie Riggleman and Nicole Pitcher (John); one nephew, Eric Riggleman; four great nieces, Sable Backus, Bailey Dixon, Hailey Green and Chloe Green; three great nephews, Axel Sinko, Aiden Piraino and Enzo Flores; three great- great nieces, Ellie, Lilyanne and Magnolia “Maggie” Backus; and several aunts and uncles.

Twila graduated from Petersburg High School in 1975.  She attended Export Bible College in Export, PA and later graduated from Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisonburg, VA. She taught at Petersburg High School for 30 years and retired in 2015.  Twila was a faithful member of Cabins Assembly of God Church and was church treasurer.  She helped provide back to school backpacks for the children at Cabins Assembly.  She was a great gospel music fan and traveled to hear many singing groups.  She had taken exhibits to the Tri-County Fair for the past 50 years. Twila was active working with Samaritan Purse sending Christmas Shoe boxes.  Twila loved her many cats.

Twila’s family will receive friends Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 5 – 8 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 1:00 PM Cabins Assembly of God Church with Pastor Coleman Clark and Pastor Steve Schuessler officiating.

Interment will be in the Barger Family Cemetery, Jordan Run Road, Maysville, WV
