Thomas M. VanMeter

Thomas Mark “Tom” VanMeter, age 58 of Petersburg, WV passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at his home.

He was born December 6, 1961 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of Ola Kathryn (Turner) VanMeter of Petersburg, WV and the late Carl VanMeter.

In addition to his father, Tom was preceded in death by one brother, Carl “Mike” VanMeter; Paternal grandparents, Edna and Harrison Turner, Maternal grandparents, Lucy and Jason VanMeter; Uncle, William “Bud” Turner and special friend, David Hill.

Tom is survived by his mother, Kathryn (Turner) VanMeter, two daughters, Brandi VanMeter of Moorefield, WV and Amanda VanMeter of Chesterfield, VA; two sons, Thomas “Tommy” VanMeter of Chesterfield, VA and Jonathan Crawford of Alabama whom he raised; two brothers, William “Bill” (Bonnie) VanMeter and Dennis VanMeter of Petersburg, WV; one sister, Charlotte (Buzz)  Reel of Petersburg, WV; companion, Jeannie VanMeter; three grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Tom graduated from Petersburg High School in 1980. He was employed at Mt. Storm Power Plant for several years and later worked in construction with Ralph Sites. 

As per Tom’s request, his body will be cremated.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
