Thelma Pearl Evans Obituary

Thelma Pearl Evans, a kind hearted soul with a deep love for animals, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on July 6, 1934, in Purgitsville, WV, and was the daughter of the late John Will George and the late Daisy Brown George. Pearl spent her life filling the world with warmth, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to her beloved cats.

A lifelong feline enthusiast, Pearl’s home was always a sanctuary for her furry companions, who brought her endless joy and comfort. She often said that her happiest moments were spent curled up with a cup of coffee and a cat nestled in her lap.

Beyond her love for animals, Pearl was known for her gentle spirit, quick wit, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met. She had a special way of making others feel valued and loved, and she leaves behind a legacy of compassion and generosity.

Pearl retired from Johnson Controls in Goshen, Indiana, and moved back to West Virginia following her retirement.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Verlin Richard Evans; her daughter, Joyce Elaine Harvey; two brothers, Delbert and Thurman George (Pearl’s twin brother); and one sister, Olivia Dale Hefner.

She is survived by four grandchildren: Crystal Harvey Rexroad, Ricky Harvey (Medea), Leah Secrist, and Andrew Harvey (Kristin); seven great-grandchildren: Nicholas Rexroad, Trevor Miller, Asia Tharp (Andrew), Ryker Harvey, Alakah Champ, Savannah Goldizen, and River Secrist; and one great-great-grandchild, Kohlson Ortt.

May she rest in peace, forever surrounded by the love of the cats she adored so much.
