Stella G. (Simmons) Weatherholtz

Stella Grace (Simmons) Weatherholtz, age 80 of Petersburg, WV and formerly of Franklin, WV passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.

Stella was born on March 15, 1945 in Franklin, WV and was a daughter of the late Lon Joseph Simmons and Hazel Virginia (Kimble) Simmons. In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman “Bud” Simmons, Sr and Joe V. Simmons, Sr. and two sisters-in-law, Anita Simmons and JoAnn Simmons.

Stella is survived by two sons, Robert L. Weatherholtz, Jr. of Franklin, WV and Jamie C. Weatherholtz of Petersburg, WV; one granddaughter, Bailey Weatherholtz of Franklin, WV; two brothers, Mahlon “Mac” Simmons and wife Connie of Mt. Airy, MD and Troy Simmons of Conway, SC; sister-in-law, Bonnie K. Simmons of Petersburg, WV and several nieces and nephews.

Stella was a graduate of Franklin High School. She was a secretary for the Arlington County Schools until retirement. 

Stella’s family will receive friends on Sunday, November 16, 2025 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. 

Funeral service will be on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Lynn Durbin officiating.  Burial will be in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Upper Tract, WV.
