Sonny R. Mowry

James Richard Doles “Sonny” Mowry, age 79, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Grant Memorial Hospital.

Sonny was born on April 2, 1941 in Petersburg, WV and was the son of Vivan R. Mowry and Lela Louella (Smith) Mowry. 

 In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by one son, Barton H. Mowry on May 3, 2015;  brother-in-law Carroll H. Smith. 

 Sonny is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sandra (Lahman) Mowry; one son, Richard (Nadena) Mowry of Frederick, MD; three granddaughters, Matalyn Morgan Mowry, Brenna Nicole Mowry and Lela Katelyn Mowry; three sisters, Barbara L. Smith of Petersburg, WV, Patricia (Jason) Kidwell of Harpers Ferry, WV, Dottie (Glenn) Harman of Fairmont, WV and several nieces and nephews.

Sonny was a graduate of Petersburg High School Class of 1959.  He was owner of V. R. Mowry LLC Trucking in Petersburg, WV.

Graveside services will be Sunday, November 22, 2020 at 3:00 PM in the Lahmansville Cemetery with Bishop Ray and Pastor Yvonne Black officiating.
