Smitty M. Alt

Osceola McClure "Smitty" Alt, age 70, of Petersburg, WV passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at his home.  

 "Smitty" was born on July 25, 1950 in Cumberland, MD and was a son of the late Lowell Everett  Alt, Sr. and Elizabeth Wilson McDonald  (Smith) Alt.  In addition to his parents, Smitty was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Wilson "Betsy" Alt.

  Smitty graduated from Petersburg High School in 1968.  He also graduated from Potomac State College in Keyser, WV and West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV. He continued the family business, Alt's Furniture Store in Petersburg. Smitty served on the Petersburg City Counsel.

  Smitty is survived by three brothers, Lowell E. Alt, Jr and wife Dottie of Mesquite, Nevada, Malcolm M. Alt of San Cristobal, Mexico and Wilson M. Alt of South Carolina, two nieces and two nephews; one great niece and one great nephew.

  A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 2 PM in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Petersburg with the Rev. Daniel Warntz officiating. 

  Please be prepared to adhere to all CDC guidelines including face coverings and social distancing.
