Shirley M. (Bennett) Flohr

Shirley Marie (Bennett) Flohr, age 83 of Augusta, WV passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin, WV.

Shirley was born on July 13, 1941 in Onego, WV and was a daughter of the late Estel Bennett and Iva (Dolly) Bennett. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband, Joyce M. Adamson in 1992; one grandson, John Merlin Adamson; seven sisters, Eva Patterson, Ruby Burke, Merle Sites, Josie Payne, Vallie Kisamore, and infants Violet and Ethel Bennett; seven brothers, Carl, Don, Chester, Clifford, Paul, Foster, and infant Roy Bennett.  Shirley was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Shirley is survived by her second husband, Robert Monroe Flohr, Sr., one daughter, Joyce Bland (Brady) of Franklin, WV, four sons, James Adamson and Dean Adamson both of New Windsor, MD, Randy Adamson (Linda) of Maysville, WV and Robert M. Flohr, Jr. of Augusta, WV; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

 Shirley dedicated many years to her work as a domestic house cleaner. She took pride in her work, ensuring that every home she entered was left with a touch of her care and attention to detail.  Family was the cornerstone of Shirley’s life, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping in the great outdoors, strolling along the beach, and tending to her flowers. She attended the Mt View Assembly of God Church in Augusta, WV.

Shirley's family will receive friends on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.

Funeral service will begin at 12 Noon with Pastor Greg Adamson and Pastor Jim Kinnamon officiating

Interment will be in the Bennett Family Cemetery, Onego, WV.
