Shirley (Borror) Cook

Shirley (Borror) Feaster Cook, age 87, of Maysville, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Shirley was born on December 13, 1937, in Landes, WV to the late Arthur William “Taft” Borror and Minnie Rosetta (George) Borror. 

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her late husband, Merlin Brooks Feaster in 1975; five sisters, Hilda Borror Kesner, Phyllis Borror Shook, Ruth Borror Keplinger, Wanda Borror Ellis and Patsy Borror Parker; seven brothers, Roland Borror, Bruce Borror, Dorris “Bunt” Borror, Leo Borror, Douglas Borror and infants, Roger and James Borror.  Shirley was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Shirley was a 1956 graduate of Petersburg High School and a member of the Grove Street United Methodist Church in Petersburg, WV.  Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, working on the farm, and exploring the mountaintop with her husband and special canine companion, Pepper. The family would like to express gratitude to all who helped care for Shirley including her compassionate caregivers and the staff at Grant Memorial Hospital. Their dedication and support allowed Shirley to spend her days surrounded by love.

 Shirley is survived by her husband of 45 years, Roger Cook of Maysville, WV; one daughter, Pamela (Douglas) Swick and one granddaughter Halie “H.B.” Swick of Petersburg, WV.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley’s family will receive friends on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 11:00 – 1:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Taylor and Rodney Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Hebron Cemetery at Maysville, WV.
