Sandra Kay (Nesselrodt) Mauzy, age 81 of Dorcas, WV went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV.
Sandra was born on October 5, 1942 in Maysville, WV and was a daughter of the late John Alfred and Naomi Elizabeth (Berg) Nesselrodt. In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by five sisters, Pauline Marple, Esther Jones, Eveline Ray, Betty Feaster and Maxine Nelson; four brothers, Paul R. Nesselrodt, John A. Nesselrodt, Jr., Ray J. Nesselrodt and Robert C. Nesselrodt.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lonnie W. Mauzy; one son, Brad Mauzy (Rhonda) of Cabins, WV and one daughter, Cindy Smith (Mike) of Petersburg, WV; four grandchildren, Ashlea (Donnie) Rexrode and children, Sophie and Saylor; Drue (Nikita) Mauzy and children, Colin, Ethan, Raelyn, Mary Mae and Jessie; Paige (Logan) Riggleman and Hannah Smith; one brother, Roger (Wanda) Nesselrodt of Maysville, WV; two sisters-in law, Rose Nesselrodt of Charles Town, WV and Delores Nesselrodt of Mt Storm, WV; two brothers-in-law, Larrie and Carol Mauzy of Maysville, WV and Delmas and Juanita Mauzy of Petersburg, WV; several nieces and nephews and a special family, Ralph and Sheila Reams of Oakland, MD.
Sandra was a 1961 graduate of Petersburg High School. She worked for the former Acacia Insurance Company in Washington, DC for several years. After living in several states, she and her husband moved back home to West Virginia in the 80’s. Sandra was secretary for her brother Robert Nesselrodt Trucking for many years.
Sandra enjoyed spending time at the family’s cabin, going on camping trips and just being outdoors. Her family remembers how she loved reading the local newspapers. She was a member of the Petersburg Church of God.
Sandra’s family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 – 8 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Petersburg Church of God with Bishop Stephen Noel officiating.
Interment will be in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens, Petersburg, WV.
