Roy E. Koontz

Roy Eston Koontz, age78 of Petersburg, WV went to Heaven to be with the Lord, on Saturday, June 5, 2021after a long courageous battle with Cancer.

 He was born December 29, 1942, in Purgitsville, WV  and graduated from Romney High School.

Surviving is his wife Erma Ours Koontz, fifty- nine years of blessed marriage; 

 Four Children. Sherry (Tony) Sharp, Midland VA.    Michael (Julie) Koontz, Warrenton VA.  Roy Christopher Koontz, Petersburg WV.  Juliet Parrell, Brunswick MD. three Sisters Barbara Koontz, Petersburg WV, Alice (Butch) Casto,  Helen (Jess) Kuykendall, Romney WV. seven Grandchildren and five Great Grandchildren.

Preceded in Death by his Parents, Junior Eston Koontz and Blanche (Kuykendall) Koontz; one bother, Sam McCarty; three Sisters, Mildred Reedy, Eva Eichelberger and  Carrie Hedges.

Roy was a successful Superintendent/Project Manager in Northern Virginia.

He was a business owner and master carpenter.  He also served as deacon in the Assembly of God Churches in Virginia and West Virginia.

His gracious and generous spirit touched all who had the pleasure to meet Roy, He never missed an opportunity to serve others and his infectious humor affected all who knew him. 

He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Valley View Golf Course in Moorefield WV, enjoyed Cruising and traveling with this family and watching the river from his back porch. (South Branch of Potomac).   He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and all who knew him.

The Koontz family will receive friends Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 5-8 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. 

Funeral service will be Monday, June 7, 2021 at 11 A.M. in the chapel of the Schaeffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Coleman Clark officiating.  Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
