Roby Scott Collins, age 86 of Petersburg, WV passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 at his home.
Mr. Collins was born on March 27, 1936 in Petersburg, WV and was the son of the late James Scott Collins and Carrie Bean (Roby) Collins. In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Donald Wayne Lantz and brother-in-law, Dale Joseph Price.
Mr. Collins is survived by three sons, L. Scott Collins of Gambrills, MD, Michael A. Collins (Felcity) of King George, VA and Allen D. Collins (Jean) of Petersburg, WV; two daughters, Lori Lantz of Riverton, WV and Emily Sue Collins of Petersburg, WV; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; also surviving his sister, Carolyn C. Price of Columbia, MD, two nephews and mother of his children, Betty Hedrick Collins. Mr. Collins also leaves many lifelong friends.
Mr. Collins was a graduate of Petersburg High School. He and his dad were rural mail carriers in Grant and Pendleton Counties and at nights, he worked for Raygold in Moorefield. Later he worked for Mount Storm Power Station and retired after 26 years. He was a member of IBEW International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. After his retirement, he drove a bus for Monongalia Transit Authority and Potomac Valley Transit. Mr. Collins was a born again Christian, wonderful father and great friend.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Funeral service will begin at 7 PM with Pastor Shannon Earle officiating. Visitation will follow the service.
There will be a private graveside service on Wednesday, 11 AM in the North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton, WV.
