Roberta Kathern (Southerly) Porter

Roberta Kathern Porter, age 85, of Petersburg, WV went to be with the Lord and her loving husband, son and grandson on Friday, November 11, 2022.

Roberta was born March 18, 1937 and was the daughter of the late Edgar Bate Southerly and Blossie Chloe (Wolfe) Southerly. In addition to her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Elwood Porter Sr. in 2020, one son, Curtis Elwood Porter Jr., one grandson Curtis Elwood Porter III; six sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by one sister, Nancy Hambleton, one son, Larry (Angela) Porter, two daughters, Brenda (Mac) Alt and Lisa (David) Moyers along with five grandsons; Ryan (Shana) Porter, Kyle (Shelaina) Porter, Tyler (Olivia) Porter, Jeff Moyers (Stephanie Rexrode), Adam (Courtney) Moyers, one granddaughter; Jessica (Tyler) Martier, five great grandsons; Brayden Porter, Brenton Porter, Noah Whetzel, A.J. Moyers, Christopher Moyers, five great granddaughters; Lakeyn Moyers, Isabella Moyers, Caroline Moyers, Kylee Porter and Maci Porter, one daughter in law; Linda Porter and former daughter in law; Charlene Porter.

Roberta was a member of First Baptist Church and previously employed as a waitress in her younger days. After her children were a little older, Roberta went on to work at two sewing factories, shoe factory and “quittired” from Hester’s Industries when Curtis retired so they could spend their days together.

Roberta had a passion for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and Curtis spent most of their evenings at Golden Lanes on bowling teams and enjoyed going on bowling trips with their friends along with beach trips, Dollywood, and Niagara Falls with family.

Viewing and Graveside services will be private with Pastor Shannon Earle and Pastor Frank Ketterman officiating.
