Rick was born on November 10, 1951 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Richard N. Borror, Sr. and Helen (Hardy) Borror Hyre. In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bruce Hyre, his brother David Zane Borror and his stepsister, Jean (Hyre) Courtney.
Rick’s legacy is carried forward by his loving wife of 51 years, Shelby J. (Moyers) Borror, his daughter, Aimee (Borror) Keplinger and husband Brian of Moorefield, WV and his son Nicholas Borror and wife Maria of Morgantown, WV; four grandchildren, Simon, Rylee, Reese and Little Brysen; his sister, Sandie Metzger of Petersburg, WV, his special niece, Alisha Black, stepsister, Jane (Hyre) Fleming and husband Greg of Oak Island, NC and his stepbrother, Bruce “Icky” Hyre and wife Mary Cay of Petersburg, WV.
Rick was a young boy when his dad died. Rick’s first job was “picking up trash" at the Petersburg Drive-In. Later he was a lifeguard at the City Pool and worked for the former Barr’s Texaco in Petersburg pumping gas, washing windshields, checking the oil and washing cars. Rick was a proud 1969 graduate of Petersburg High School and attended college. In 1976 Rick started Borror’s Radio/TV Repair business. He spent many years bringing life back to the screens of his neighbors as a beloved TV repairman. He was known as “Mr. Fixit”, being a plumber or helping build anything.
This boy “Rick” loved his grandkids, Simon, Rylee, Reese and Little Brysen. Whether outside flying a drone or taking pictures of them or sitting on the swing with a popsicle or watching them sled ride. Rick would stack leaves so they could jump in them or sit on a chair holding them while they watched cartoons. It was Rick’s pride and joy just being with his grandkids and watching their dogs.
Rick was a gifted musician who found joy in playing the guitar and singing at church. His passion for music was a means of worship and connection with his faith. Rick was a humble man, never seeking the spotlight, and his songs --were original compositions that he penned himself and were heartfelt expressions of his love for Jesus Christ. Rick was a faithful member of Bethel Church, Petersburg, WV. In his final days on earth, Rick often spoke of his readiness to go Home to Jesus. These words were so comforting to his family.
