Richard Allen Keplinger, age 69, of Maysville, WV passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Ruby Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
Richard was born on September 9, 1955 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of Sarah Jane (Keplinger) Cook Thompson of Maysville, WV.
Richard is survived by his mother, Sarah and wife of 37 years, Patricia Ann (Mauzy) Keplinger; one uncle, Floyd Keplinger of Albright, WV; several cousins, father and father & mother-in-law, Glenn and Naomi Mauzy of Petersburg, WV; one brother-in-law, Leon Mauzy (Kim) of Maysville, WV; four sisters-in-law, Karen Parsons (John) of Petersburg, WV, Cheryl Keplinger (Randy) of Maysville, WV, Bonnie Mauzy of Petersburg, WV and Joyce Champ of Petersburg, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was a 1975 graduate of Petersburg High School. He owned his coal truck and delivered coal for VEPCO for several years. He also worked for Delmer Schell in the poultry houses and later retired from Pilgrim’s Pride Fresh Plant after 29 years. His passion was tractors and dogs. He had 4 tractors, Farmall, Ford and Kubota and his German Shepherds, Cody Allen and Raven. Richard enjoyed farming and gardening.
He was a member of Falls Assembly of God Church.
Richard’s family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 – 8 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Spirit of Life Church in Petersburg, WV with Pastor Brian Hipp officiating.
Interment in Lahmansville Cemetery in Lahmansville, WV.
