Phyllis Jean Berg, age 81, of Petersburg, WV went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV.
Phyllis was born on June 16, 1941 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late Dorothy Everly (Runion) Zuber. In addition to her mother, Phyllis was preceded in death by her step -father, Roy Lawrence Zuber; two brothers, Roger Zuber and Harold Zuber.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Leonard K. Berg; two daughters, Lisa Berg of Manassas, VA and Teresa (Billy) Bland of Petersburg, WV; one son, Gregory (Angela) Berg of Maysville, WV; nephew/son, Kevin (Mary) Zuber of Sevier County, TN; five grandchildren, Tiffany (Bland) Parker, Laryssa Berg-Brown, Deric Bland, Jeremy Berg, Kile Berg and six great grandchildren with two more on the way; four sisters, Wanda (Zuber) Nesselrodte of South Fork, WV, Carol Dean Zuber of Chesnee, SC, Sue (Zuber) Ashenfelter of Moorefield, WV and Mary (Zuber) Riggleman of Clarksville, TN; two brothers, Lawrence Zuber of Moorefield, WV and Chester Zuber of Petersburg, WV; one sister-in-law, Janet Zuber of Moorefield, WV and twenty-two nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was a faithful 62 year member of the Petersburg Church of God and served as Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School Director. She was leader of the Bluebelle Club Youth Ladies Ministries and was Food Service Director of the Church of God Summer Youth Camps. She also served as president of theWomen’s ministries for several years and was a choir member with a beautiful alto voice. Phyllis enjoyed working in her flower gardens and watching the hummingbirds come into the feeders.
Phyllis was a seamstress who made bridal dresses for family and friends. She was employed at Windsor Knit Sewing Factory for several years. She was best known as manager at Arthur Mart and Patterson Creek Market in Arthur, WV.
Most of all, Phyllis loved her family, her children, grandchildren and GiGi babies.
Funeral service will be 2 PM on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Noel and her granddaughter Tiffany Parker officiating.
Family will receive friends from 12 Noon on Sunday till time of service at 2 PM.
Burial will be in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg, WV
