Pastor Kenneth Otis Phares, age 90 of Cabins, WV went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at his home.
Pastor Phares was born on July 11, 1933 in Maysville, WV and was a son of the late Otis Michael Phares and Fannie Alice (Kisamore) Phares.
In addition to his parents, Pastor Phares was preceded in death by five brothers, Boyd Phares, Carl Phares, James Phares, Dawes Phares and George Phares; five sisters, Macie Kile, Glossie Phares, Sylvia Keplinger, Clarice Evans, Clela Lyon. Pastor was the last member of his immediate family.
Pastor Phares is survived by his wife of 67 years, Hilda M. (Carr) Phares; two daughters, Patricia Vetter and husband Bradley of Moorefield, WV and Barbara Phares -Lambert and husband Merle of Romney, WV; one son, Kenneth A. Phares and wife Michelle of Cabins, WV; six grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren; 3 step great- great grandchildren and his four legged friend Daisy.
Pastor Phares served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He was an Assemblies of God pastor for 45 years. He also was a carpenter, electrician, worked for Kessel Lumber Company and Dettinburn Trucking. He was a member of Cabins Assembly of God Church.
Pastor Phares’s family will receive friends Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 5 – 8 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev. Coleman Clark officiating. Burial will be in Mt Hebron Cemetery, Maysville, WV with Military Honors by the Grant County Veterans Honor Guard and West Virginia Army Honor Guard.
