Pastor Carroll Glen Junkins, age 84 of Petersburg, WV went to his Heavenly Home on Friday, November 29, 2024 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. Pastor Junkins was born on November 14, 1940, in Westernport, MD and was the son of the late Elmer Boyd Junkins and Vauda Eldora (Jack) Junkins.
In addition to his parents, Pastor Junkins was preceded by his first wife, Mildred Ruth (Bosley) Junkins in 2001 and two brothers, Norman Lee Junkins and Roger Wayne Junkins.
Pastor Junkins is survived by his wife, Darline M. (Thorne) Junkins; two sons, Glenn Junkins of Iraq and Jeffery Champ and wife, Ruby of Fredericksburg, VA; two daughters, Theresa Lewis and husband, Johnny of Romney, WV and Dianna Hinkle and husband, Kenny of Petersburg, WV; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; one sister, Ila F. Mayhew and husband, Steve, of Mt. Storm, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Pastor Junkins was a 1959 graduate of Elk Garden High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1960 and retired after 30 years of service as a Master Chief Petty Officer Yeoman. After his service, he became a pastor of several churches in the Tri-State Area, retiring from the Brick Church of the Brethren in 2020. Pastor Junkins was a lifetime member of the Moorefield American Legion Post 64.
Pastor Junkins’s family will receive family and friends on Sunday from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.
Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Leatherman and Rev. Randy Cosner officiating.
A Military Graveside service will follow in the Lahmansville Cemetery conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard, Moorefield American Legion Post 64 and the Grant County Veterans Honor Guard.
