Orlando C. Kesner

 Orlando Conway “Landy” Kesner, age 90 of Petersburg, WV died on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Grant Rehabilitation & Care Center in Petersburg.

 He was born on September 24, 1935 in Rough Run, WV and was a son of the late John Evers Kesner and Maggie Rebecca (Whetzel) Kesner. In addition to his parents, Orlando was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Elaine (Borror) Stump Kesner in 1993. Also one son, Philip Kesner, two brothers, Evers Kesner and Victor Kesner and three sisters, Virginia Bouldin and two infant sisters.

Orlando is survived by three sons, Craig Kesner of Morgantown, WV, Daniel Kesner of Franklin, WV and Christopher Kesner of Staunton, VA; five grandchildren, Carrington Kesner, Brennen Kesner, Evan Kesner, Kinnley Kesner and Liam Kesner; and two sisters, Jean Crites and Arvella Ours both of Petersburg, WV and several nieces and nephews.

Orlando had a passion for hunting and due to having some great friends, he was able to enjoy it right up until the end. He loved hunting deer and wild turkey however, he kept all of the local farmers happy by eliminating most (if not all) of the groundhogs from the fields.  His largest harvest was 219 in one year and he earned the nickname “Scat”. He also was a great storyteller and enjoyed sharing tales with family and friends. He was never short a story and when remembering them, you always had a smile. Landy will be missed by all who knew him.  He retired from Fairfax Stone Company. 

Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV with Pastor Lynn Rohrbaugh officiating.

Orlando’s family will receive friends one hour prior to service.

Interment will follow in the Kesner Family Cemetery in Rough Run, WV.
