Naomi M. (Cullers) Ayers

Naomi Marie (Cullers) Ayers, age 86 of Dorcas, WV passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. 

Naomi was born on November 2, 1937 in Moorefield, WV and was a daughter of the late George William Cullers and Minnie Rachel (Mongold) Cullers.  In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by four sisters, Rosella Alice Cullers, Nettie Susan Cullers, Lily Mary Cullers and Ruth Odessa Ketterman; five brothers, Donald William Cullers, Charles Edward Cullers, Bobby Gene Cullers, Virgil Vernon Cullers and Rev. Eston Lee Cullers.

Naomi is survived by her husband of 69 years, William “Pete” Ayers; one son, Timothy Martin Ayers (Debbie) of Dorcas, WV; two grandsons, Jeremy Scott Ayers and George Lester Ayers (Allison); four great grandchildren, Caitlin Blair, Natalie Ayers, Lauren Ayers and Hunter Ayers; one sister, Carolyn Ketterman of Petersburg, WV and one brother, Rev. Harold G. Cullers (Jana) of Moorefield, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Naomi enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, but she also liked being outdoors working in the garden and helping with yard work.  She was loved and will be missed by many.  Naomi was a member of Harpers Chapel Church of the Brethren, South Fork, WV. 

Naomi’s family will receive friends on Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 2 – 5 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. 

Funeral service will be Monday, January 22, 2024 at 11 AM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Daryl Dunsmore and Speaker Dennis Helmick officiating.  Interment will be in Sites Cemetery on Elkhorn Road.
