Monna E. (Kitzmiller) Parrish

Monna Elizabeth (Kitzmiller) Parrish, age 87 of Mt. Storm, WV passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025 at Moran Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Westernport, MD.

Monna was born on April 25, 1938 in Mt. Storm, WV and was a daughter of the late Albin Sampson Kitzmiller and Amy Grace (Cosner) Kitzmiller. In addition to her parents, Monna was preceded in death by half- brother, Leon D. Kitzmiller and half- sister, Gladys Kitzmiller Cosner. Monna was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Monna is survived by her husband of 65 years, Cobert H. Parrish; two daughters, Elizabeth “Rene” (Parrish) Getz (Russell) of Mt. Storm, WV and Valorie E. (Parrish) Dixon (Steve) of Oakland, MD; three grandchildren, Payton Dixon, Briana Getz and Wesley Dixon; one step grandson, Garrett Dixon; two step great grandchildren, Willis Dixon and Abigail Dixon.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Monna was a 1957 graduate of Bayard High School. She was a nurse’s aid at Grant Memorial Hospital before her marriage on September 30, 1960. She enjoyed working on the family farm and gardening. Monna was well known for her cooking and baking that she shared with family and friends. She cherished spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Locust Grove Church in Bismarck, WV. 

 Monna’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. 

Funeral service will be on Thursday, June 19, 2025  at 11 AM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Lynn Rohrbaugh and Rev. Sam Moon officiating. Burial will be in Scherr-Idleman Cemetery at Scherr, WV.
