Mernie F. (Ours) Kimble

  Mernie Frances (Ours) Kimble, age 85 of Rough Run, WV passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

 Mernie was born on July 11, 1940 in Rough Run, WV and was a daughter of the late Charles Monroe Ours and Mernie Elizabeth (Thorne) Ours. In addition to her parents, Mernie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Kimble on January 23, 2024; one son, Stanley Paul Kimble, one grandson, Zac Alston Paul Alt; one sister, Janie Sites; nine brothers, Cletus Ours, Oscar Ours, Leon Ours, William Ours, Glenn Ours, Galen Ours, Bobby Ours and Paul Ours and Delmas “Jake” Ours.

 Mernie is survived by four daughters, Linda Helmick (Craig) of Petersburg, WV, Deborah Evans (Dorsey) of Petersburg, WV, Mary Alexander (Ronnie) of Mozer, WV and Janice “Peep” Alt (Regina) of Petersburg, WV; one son, Michael “Mike” Kimble (Wanda) of Petersburg, WV; ten grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren; one sister, Arvella Zimmerer of Petersburg, WV and three brothers, Dale Ours (Virginia) of Rough Run, WV, Ralph Ours (Cornelia) of Rough Run, WV and Olin Ours (Carol) of Rough Run, WV; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Ours and Arvella Ours; and several nieces and nephews and her furry lifelong companion, Joey Lee.

 Mernie worked for the Joan Curtis Manufacturing Sewing Factory in Petersburg until the closing and later retired from the United States Forestry Service as a Federal Law Enforcement Agent. Mernie was a faithful member and Sunday School teacher at the Rough Run Church of the Brethren and The Place in Moorefield, WV.

She enjoyed bowling and her passion was baby-sitting her great grandchildren and being a “maw maw” to everyone.

Mernie’s family will receive friends on Sunday, October 12, 2025 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.

Funeral service will be Monday at 2 PM (October 13, 2025) in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Church and Pastor Daryl Dunsmore officiating.

Interment will be in Ours Family Cemetery.
