Maxine D. (Winegar) VanFleet

 Maxine Delorse (Winsboro) VanFleet, age 84 of Cabins, WV passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at her residence in Cabins.  She was a cherished mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born on May 11, 1940 in Takoma Park, MD and was a daughter of the late Charles Benjamin Winegar and Velma Hammack (Winsboro) Winegar. In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert William “Bill” VanFleet in 2001.

  Maxine’s legacy is carried on through her family, which was the center of her universe.  She is survived by her four children, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one sister, Mary Alice Oliver of Leonardtown, MD.

  Her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother was one she cherished deeply, and the lessons she imparted to her ten grandchildren and great-grandchildren will continue to guide them throughout their lives.

 Her unwavering strength, grace and love of life will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Maxine’s presence was a comforting constant, and her ability to listen and offer wise counsel made her a pillar in her community.  Her laughter was infectious, her smile could lighten up a room, and her generosity knew no bounds.  Maxine’s journey on earth has concluded, but the impact of her love and kindness will resonate for generations to come.

 A Graveside service will be conducted on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Rick Bergdoll. Interment will follow in the Lahmansville Cemetery.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or Ethnos 360, 312 West First Street, Sanford, Florida 32771 for Bible Translation.
