Maxine Clarice (Barger) Bergdoll, age 100 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at her home.
Mrs. Bergdoll was born on May 12, 1920 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late Max Clement Barger and Clarice Virginia (Shobe) Barger.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bergdoll was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Cletus Bergdoll in 1998; One son, Allan Cletus Bergdoll; one sister, Virginia Halterman and great granddaughter, Tanya Simmons.
Mrs. Bergdoll is survived by one son, Roger W. Bergdoll of Petersburg, WV; three daughters, Carolyn S. McGuire and husband Thomas of Petersburg, WV, Frances Phares and husband Don of Petersburg, WV and Mary V. Bergdoll of Petersburg, WV; six grandchildren, L. Susan Williams, Amy V. Reiter, Allan D. Bergdoll, Rebecca L. McGuire Ours, T. C. McGuire Jr. and Aaron W. Bergdoll; eight great grandchildren, Tesia, Jessica, Alyssa, Emily, Kaylin, John David, Levi, and Liam; five great-great grandchildren, Michael, Ethney, Zoey, Branson and Rowan; daughter-in-law, Gail (Rush) Bergdoll of Canton, GA; one nephew, William M. Halterman and wife Roxanne; two nieces, Wanda Bergdoll Curl and Barbara Bergdoll Ours.
Mrs. Bergdoll was a graduate of Petersburg High School Class of 1939 and also a graduate of Catherman’s Business School in Cumberland, MD. She was a bookkeeper for Kelley’s Springfield Tire in Cumberland, MD and Shawnee Milling Company in Petersburg.
Mrs. Bergdoll was a member of Hedrick Chapel United Methodist Church and was pianist for several years. She served on Southern States Women’s Advisory Board. She also volunteered at Dorcas Elementary School.
Mrs. Bergdoll was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was an excellent cook, seamstress and was known for her caramel ice cream.
Family will receive friends Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
A Graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 2 PM with the Rev. Larry Hakes officiating at the Bergdoll Family Cemetery.
