Mary Faye Wilkinson Obituary

Mary Faye (Harman) Wilkinson, age 78 of Petersburg, West Virginia, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2020 in her home.

Faye was born July 11, 1941 in Mozer,West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Quinten Verlie Harman and Mary Virginia (Sinnett) Harman.

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by one brother, Dr. Kenneth M. Harman.

Faye is survived by her husband of nearly twenty-five years, Roger A. Wilkinson; two daughters, Terrie (Gregory) Foley of Petersburg, WV, and Lisa Wilson of Clear Spring, Maryland; five stepchildren, Elizabeth (Robert) Strong of Wheeling, WV; Christine (Bill) Liller of Moorefield, WV; Amy (Mike) Lohmann of Bridgeport, WV; Jennifer (John) Jackson of Branson, MO; and Roger (Tiffanie) Wilkinson of Bridgeport, WV; one sister, Barbara (Lynn) Rohrbaugh of Maysville, WV, and several nieces and  nephews. Faye is also survived by those who adored her and lovingly referred to her as Grandma Faye and GiGi, her nineteen grandchildren (Amber, Jaimah, Jordan, Michaela, Eli, Chris, Avery, Caleb, Zack, Maggie, Hannah, Claire, Abigail, Chloe, Isaac, Mollie, Emma, GW, and Moe) and nine great-grandchildren  (Riley, Audrey Faye, Carter, Ruby, Nora, Charlotte Faye, Noah, Wyatt, and Drew).  Faye’s family was so proud to call themselves hers; she was a loyal and selfless wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.

Faye was a 1959 graduate of Franklin High School where she was a cheerleader and played volleyball.  She lovingly cared for and taught children at Petersburg Elementary School for thirty years.  Faye volunteered for the American Red Cross and attended Petersburg First Baptist Church.

Faye was an avid gardener whose beautiful flowers and yard created a sanctuary for wildlife visitors.  Some of Faye’s greatest adventures came with her husband as she reeled in countless fish from WV’s waters. WVU sports held a special place in Faye’s heart, and she could be found watching or listening to every football and basketball game. Her entire family was blessed by her culinary gifts and ability to host huge numbers for special occasions, during which she took care of each and every guest.

Faye’s family will receive friends Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 AM, February 15, 2020 in the Chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Bergdoll and Rev. Lynn Rohrbaugh officiating.
