Mary Kuykendall Obituary

 Mary Lucille Kuykendall, age 87 of Moorefield, WV formerly of Alexandria, VA, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg, WV.

Born in Pulaski, VA, she was the daughter of the late Hubert W. Via and Sarabelle Duncan Via.  In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband Daniel W. Kuykendall, Sr.; two brothers, Frank and Alton and one sister Cecil George.  She was the last remaining member of her immediate family.

She is survived by one son, Daniel W. Kuykendall, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Petersburg and granddaughter Lucretia Marie Kumah and husband Eric Jr. and grandson Daniel W. Kuykendall, III and wife Courtney all of Fredericksburg, VA;  one daughter Kathy Lubin and husband Michael of Richmond, VA, and granddaughter Lindsey Lubin.  Five great-grandchildren Eric Kumah III, Marcus Kumah, Alyssa Kumah, Daniel W. Kuykendall IV, Hunter Kuykendall and one great-great grandson Eric Kumah IV; and several nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Pulaski High School in Pulaski, VA and Catherman’s Business School in Cumberland, MD.  For 32 years she was employed by Service Neon Signs, Inc. in Springfield, VA.  In 2002, she and her late husband, Daniel W. Kuykendall, Sr. moved to the Kuykendall Farm in Moorefield, WV.  Her second career was spent running the family rental property business.  She loved hosting family gatherings at the farm, gardening and was an avid reader.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.  Inurnment will be private at the Lahmansville Cemetery in WV.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moorefield Presbyterian Church or the Hardy County Public Library in Moorefield, WV.
