Marvin J. Mauzy

Marvin Justin Mauzy, age 92, of Winchester VA passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 in his daughter's home in Carlisle, PA surrounded by family.

Mr. Mauzy was born on September 21, 1932 in Petersburg, WV and was the son of the late Orva Justin Mauzy and Lena Leota Feaster Mauzy.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mauzy was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie (Riggleman) Mauzy in 2017 and five brothers, James Mauzy, Carl Mauzy, Ronald Mauzy, Virgil Mauzy, and Raymond Mauzy and four sisters, Viola Mae Mongold, Ada Rae Thorne, Carrie Bergdoll and Mary Alice Conrad.

Mr. Mauzy served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Mauzy was a carpenter by trade. He worked for many years specializing in Kitchen and bath remodels. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Winchester VA.

Mr. Mauzy is survived by one son, Gregory (Sharon) Mauzy of Winchester, Va; two daughters, Christine Susan (Robert) Thomas of Fredericksburg, VA and Cindy (Michael) Mayer of Carlisle, PA; seven grandchildren, Scott Thomas, Michael Mayer Jr., Kristel Rynard, Melissa Mayer, Samantha Mauzy, Mitchell Hanks and Josephine Hanks; six great grandchildren, Wyatt Mayer, Landen Mayer, Mark Rynard, Isaiah Rynard, Hannah Rynard and Adalee Sowers. One brother Glenn (Naomi) Mauzy of Petersburg, WV and many nieces and nephews.

 Mr. Mauzy’s family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Mayer officiating.  

 Interment will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WV with Military Honors by the Grant County Veterans Honor Guard and West Virginia Army Honor Guard.
