Maralee (Goode) Paugh

 Maralee Paugh, 91 of Middle River, Md., and formerly of Saulsville, W.Va., died Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Collington Senior Living Community, Mitchellville, Md.

Born August 31, 1931 in Saulsville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Jessie (Clay) Goode. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Carroll Paugh in 2015, one brother, Lemuel Goode, and two sisters, Bettie Brown and infant Joyce Goode. Mrs Paugh was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was the valedictorian of her Glen Rogers High School class and she graduated from West Virginia University. She taught Social Studies from 1954 to 1958 at the General John Stricker Junior High School in Baltimore County, Md. After getting her three sons off to a good start she returned to teaching in 1967. She taught English at Deep Creek Junior High School, also in Baltimore County, Md., until she retired in 1991.  She was a member of Middle River Baptist Church.

  She is survived by three sons, C. Allen Paugh of Bowie, Md., Mitchell G. Paugh of Bowling Green, Ky., and Roger S. Paugh of San Antonio, Tx.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Saturday from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.

Funeral services will be Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 1 p.m.in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Cheryl George officiating.

Burial will be in the Alkire Cemetery at Mount Storm, WV.
