Lura Mae (Hardy) Evans, age 98 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Grant Memorial Hospital.
Lura was born on April 16,1924 and was a daughter of the late Otto Hardy and Bernice (Barr) Hardy.
Lura was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Paul L. Evans in 2008, one son-in-law David Glinski, one grandson, David Joe Glinski, two sisters Norma (Keith) Hiser, Janie (Ralph) Riggleman, two brothers Lyle (Gladis) Hardy and Howard (Yvonne) Hardy.
Lura is survived by one son Joe and wife Priscilla (Getz) Evans; one daughter Carolyn Glinski, four grandchildren Linda Orlandi and Mike, Jeanette Glinski, Kelly (Morice) Struder, Monica (Brent) Gardner. Five Great grandchildren, Garrett Orlandi, Shelby Puleo, Ritchie Struder, Ryan Struder and Jasper Gardner. One Great -Great Grandson Brock Puleo. One very close and dear friend Suzie (Rick) Dolly. Two sisters Helen (Bruce) Hyre and Anna Lee (Don) Graham. Two brothers Victor (Betty) Hardy and Carl (Anne) Hardy.
Lura was a graduate of Moorefield High School. She was a member of the Rig Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School there many years. She was the first female bus driver in Grant County. She also worked at the Petersburg Cannry, Raygold Inc., Petersburg Sewing Factory, and Judy’s Drug Store.
In retirement she enjoyed Family, friends and neighbors visiting, doing word searches and reading her Bible. She will be greatly missed by all.
Lura’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 from 5 – 8 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 11 AM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WV.
