Lucy (Harper) Kimble

Helen Lucy (Harper)  Kimble, age 75 of Cabins, WV passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.

Lucy was born on Feb 23, 1950 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late Kermit Harper and Ruth (Bennett) Harper. In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by Father and Mother-in-law, Marvin and Nellie Kimble; brother-in-law, Larry C. Kimble.

Lucy was a 1969 graduate of Circleville High School.  She was employed at Union Finance Company in Petersburg for several years. Later Lucy dedicated many years of service to WV Department of Health and Human Resources before retiring.  Her work was not just a job; it was a reflection of her commitment to the community and the natural beauty of the state she loved so much.

Lucy’s passion for life extended far beyond her professional endeavors.  She was a cornerstone of the family farm, where she could be found tending to the garden or helping with the daily tasks that keep a farm thriving. Lucy was a member of the West Virginia Purebreed Association and Corner Church at Cabins. WV.

Lucy’s life was a shared journey with her beloved husband, Jerry Kimble.  Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter and mutual respect. Their partnership was a beautiful example of devotion and companionship.  Also surviving two sisters-in-law, Carol and George Ketterman of Cabins, WV and Delores Ann Kimble of Cabins, WV and numerous nieces and nephews and her pet, Lassie. 

Lucy’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.

Funeral service will be Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 11 AM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Gerstell and Pastor Becky Bennett officiating.

Interment will follow in North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton, WV.
