Lovetta Delphia (Judy) Alt

Lovetta Delphia (Judy) Alt, age 85, of Petersburg, WV, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022 at E.A. Hawse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Baker, WV.

Lovetta was born on February 4, 1937 in Pansy, WV and was a daughter of the late Harry Eston Judy and Delphia (Kesner) Judy. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maxel “Max” Dow Alt in 2009.  Lovetta was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Harry and Donald Judy; four sisters, Arvella Sites, Anna Mae Martin, Juanita Crites and an infant sister, Mary Judy.

Surviving are two daughters, Rhonda K. Rohrbaugh (Larry) of Petersburg, WV and Sharon S. Squires (Steve) of Winchester, VA; three sons, Wendell D. Alt (Linda) of Maysville, WV, Douglas W. Alt (Christine) of Petersburg and Brian K. Alt of Petersburg, WV; eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren and one expected soon and one sister, Betty Greenwalt (Allen) of Petersburg, WV.  Also, several nieces and nephews.

Lovetta worked at the Petersburg Creamery, where she met her husband, Max, and was married on July 6, 1956.  Later, she worked for Joan Curtis Sewing Factory and Lovetta and Max bought the former Grant County Farm Service in Petersburg in 1989 and founded Alt’s Farm Service.  Lovetta was a loving Mother who enjoyed farming, gardening, canning and her flower garden.  She was a member of the Brake Church of the Brethren and Bethel Church of the Brethren.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 from 5-8 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. 

Funeral service will be on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at 11 AM in the chapel of the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV with Pastor Greg Rotruck officiating.  Burial will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, WV.
