Lorraine Dyher Roby
She was born on May 31, 1921 in Nitro, WV, the daughter of the late Alfred Dyher and Jean Mullins Dyher. Mrs. Roby was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Grant Roby on November 28, 1965, two infant sons, three brothers: Devere Dyher, John S. Dyher and Stanley A. Dyher and a sister, Eleanor Weinhauer Miller. Grandparents, John and Caroline Dyher, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Roby grew up in Steeleville, Illinois. She graduated from Circleville High School, Circleville, WV in 1939. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and Fireman's Auxiliary. She was an active bowler for years at Golden Lanes in Petersburg. She was a dedicated member of the Grove Street United Methodist Church. She retired from the US Postal Service in the early 1980s after many dedicated years of employment.
She is survived by four children, three sons: Benjamin Grant Roby (Deborah) of Washington Court House, Ohio, James A. Roby (Diane) of Statesville, NC and Richard S. Roby (Shirley), Georgetown, Texas, and one daughter, Ann Roby Cunningham (Jay) of New Martinsville, WV. Six grandchildren, three granddaughters: Candis Roby Wenger (Mark), Erin Roby Buerk (Phillip), and Shannon Roby Gonzalez (Rene); three grandsons: Benjamin Grant Roby (Holly), Geoffrey Ross Cunningham (Karen), and Jason Grant Cunningham (Christy). Five great granddaughters: Ella Gonzalez, Lily Roby, Eve Wenger, Maya Roby, Delia Buerk and Annalee Cunningham, and four great grandsons: Logan Gonzalez, Aiden Cunningham, Milo Buerk and Cameron Wenger.
She passed away on January 1, 2015 after residing in the Grant County Nursing Home for more than 10 years.
Visitation: Saturday, January 10, 2015, from 11:30 a.m. --1 p.m. with funeral service following at 1 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev. William R. Brown and Rev. Richard L. Longbon officiating.
Interment will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.
