Lloyd Hershel Bowers, 80, of Upper Tract, WV, passed unexpectedly July 25 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. He was born October 21, 1941, to the late Carlie McRoy and Susie (Alt) Bowers. Lloyd attended Alt School and Upper Tract Grade School, and then proceeded to graduate Franklin High School class of 1959; Potomac State College in 1961, and West Virginia University in 1964 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked 32 years at Pennsylvania Power and Light Company, retiring in 1996. After retirement his entrepreneurial spirit led him to trucking and farming. Lloyd also enjoyed puzzles, hunting, bowling, and was an avid civil war historian. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Lloyd participated in the Adopt a Highway Program for twenty-five years. He was a faithful attender of St John Lutheran Church, Moyers, West Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Callison) Bowers, daughter Sarah LeBoon – wife of Richard, daughter Martha Weaver – wife of Terry, and Myles Bowers (son of Debra Koontz). He had three grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Courtney and Benjamin.
Siblings include sister Lois Jean Jordan – wife of the late Kenneth Lee Jordan, brother Elton Bowers – husband of Burma Bowers, sister Doris Ann Collins – wife of Kenneth Collins, sister Deborah Mitchell – wife of Rick Mitchell, and sister-in-law Etha Mae Bowers. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Carl and Ivan Bowers, sister Betty Jo Maris, and two infant sisters Dreama Grace and Alice Faye.
Mr. Bowers' family will receive family and friends on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 11 AM till 1 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral Services will begin at 1 PM in the chapel of the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Timothy Sims and Pastor Jason Felici.
Burial will follow at The Bowers Cemetery in Upper Tract, WV.
