Leonard W. Shaffer, Sr.

Leonard Wade “Bubby” Shaffer, Sr. age 88 of Gormania, WV and formerly of Euclid, Ohio died on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg, WV.

Leonard was born on June 14, 1934 in Horseshoe Run, West Virginia and was a son of the late Herman Woodrow Shaffer and Gertrude Pauline (Sell) Shaffer.

In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Anne (Sestak) Shaffer in July 26, 2022; son-in-law, Michael Fern; one daughter-in-law, Sue Rasmussen;  five sisters. Jane Hebb, Letha Helmick, Vera White, Geraldine Arnold, Patsy Mikles; two brothers, Joe Shaffer and Guy Shaffer.

Leonard is survived by two sons, Leonard W. Shaffer, Jr. of Gormania, WV and Michael Shaffer (Carissa) of Middlefield, Ohio; one daughter, Michelle Shaffer Fern of Painesville, Ohio; seven grandchildren; Tony Griggs, Tina Shaffer, Leonard W. Shaffer III (Ashley), Melissa Goldizen (Ryan), Jesse Shaffer, Jaramie Shaffer (Abby) and Andrea Banschenbach; nine great grandchildren, Timmy Kemphfer, Camren Kemphfer, Hunter Shaffer, Isaiah Goldizen, Ella Shaffer, Ashton Shaffer,  Jackson Banschenbach, Elijah Goldizen and Rachel Banschenbach; two sisters, Carolyn Spencer of Horseshoe Run, WV and Alta Minnick of Mt. Storm, WV and several nieces and nephews.

According to his wishes, Leonard’s body was given to West Virginia University Human Gift Registry, Morgantown, West Virginia.

A Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled at a later date.
