Larry Earl “Nub” VanMeter, age 72 of Cabins, WV passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020 at his home.
He was born January 13, 1948 in Petersburg, WV and was the son of the late Earl VanMeter and Arvella Ruth (Ours) VanMeter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Lowell Kitzmiller.
Larry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley S. (Moyers) VanMeter; three daughters, Cynthia A. Boyer of Cabins, Kimberly L. Kimble and fiancé Michael Alt of Petersburg and Tamara S. (Mark) Alt of Petersburg, WV seven grandchildren, Raymond Earl Delawder, Jeffery Allan (Lindsay) Boyer, Brittany Michelle (Ethan) Ours, Mackenzie Lawrence Kimble, Destinee Nicole Alt and Lindsy Renee Boyer and Natasha Nichole (Matt)Caplan; five great grandchildren, Braylin and Anniston Ours, Palmer Rose Boyer, Danica and Regan Caplan; one sister, Karen Kitzmiller of Cabins, WV; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his furry babies, Molly and Callie.
Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. He was a graduate of Petersburg High School Class of 1966. He served in the United States Army during VietNam War and was a life member of the Petersburg VFW Post 6454. He worked for Waco Inc. and was a carpenter for Ours Construction. Larry loved to hunt, ride ATV’s, sports, Nascar and spending time with friends and family. He attended Cabins Assembly of God Church.
Funeral service will be Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Vivan Watts officiating. Family will receive friends from 12 Noon till time of service at 2 PM.
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, all individuals entering the funeral home will be required to maintain social distance and wear face coverings at all times
Interment will follow in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg with military honors by the Petersburg VFW Post 6454 and the West Virginia Army Honor Guard.
