King Morris Beckwith, Sr., age 83, of Moorefield, WV passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
Mr. Beckwith was born June 17, 1937 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Winston Beckwith and Luella (Redman) Beckwith.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Beckwith was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Staija Beckwith-Hilliard; three sisters and two brothers; sister-in-law, Hazel Redman.
King is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Barbara Ann (Redman) Beckwith; three sons, King M. Beckwith, Jr. of Bridgeport, CT, Tracy A. Beckwith of Winchester, VA and Steven N. Beckwith of Morgantown, WV; two daughters, Leota Beckwith and Cecilia Beckwith, both of Morgantown, WV; eleven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Campbell of Keyser, WV and Lola Gaites of Cumberland, MD; and one brother, Pastor Calvin Redman, Sr. of Petersburg, WV.
King was a dedicated truck driver and began his career at the age of 16. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Petersburg. He was a City Police officer in Petersburg during the late 80’s.
A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 1:00 at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Petersburg with Pastor Calvin S. Redman, Sr. officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Petersburg, WV.
Family will receive friends at the church from 11 A.M. till time of service.
