June C. (Cornell) Murphy

June (Cornell) Murphy, age 93, of Moorefield, WV passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg, WV after a brief stay.

June was born June 27,1927 in Cumberland, Maryland and was the daughter of the late Delmer “Mopie” Cornell and Ethel (Turner) Cornell.

In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband, George W. “Bill” Murphy in 2006; two brothers, Wayne Cornell and Larry Cornell; son-in-law, Bill Violett. 

June graduated from Petersburg High School Class 1945.  Her first employment was secretary of the Petersburg Pepsi Cola Plant. She was later employed as a switchboard operator for the telephone company in Cumberland, MD.  In 1963, June was employed by the South Branch Valley National Bank, (now Summit Bank in Moorefield, WV) where she retired as head bookkeeper in 1993.  She was a member of Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church in Moorefield, WV. 

June is survived by three daughters -

Pam Shobe and husband Terry of Petersburg, WV
Millie Murphy of Strasburg, VA                  
Melissa Violett of Hilton Head Island, SC

Two Grandsons:  

Ryan Lewis and wife, Aubrey of Albuquerque, NM

Briton Shobe and Fiance’ Nicole Cain of Keyser, WV

One Great Grandson:  Kyler Shobe

Sister-in-Law:   Gail Cornell of Dusseldorf, Germany

Two Nieces and one Nephew.

Family will receive friends Monday, June 14, 2021 from 6:00 -8:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 11 AM in the Chapel of the Schaeffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Ann W. Harrison officiating.  Interment will be in Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, WV.
