Julius Shook, Jr. age 85 of Petersburg, WV went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.
Junior was born on March 15, 1937 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Julius Nimrod Shook and Leafy Dale (Cosner) Shook Rexrode. In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by his step -father, Virgil Rexrode.
Junior is survived by his wife of 22 years, Nancy Mae (Ketterman) Shook; three daughters, Misty Taylor (Rodney) of Petersburg, WV, Robin Riggleman (Denver) of Petersburg, WV and Crystal Kline (Danny) of Petersburg, WV; a step-son, Patrick “P.C.” Self (Kelly) of Old Fields, WV; three grandchildren, Jesse Stump (Haley), Brooke Alt (Malachi) and Cody Kline; four great grandchildren, Jessa Stump, Hadlee Stump, Kimber Alt and Adalynn Alt; one sister, Shirley L. Sessions of Georgetown, SC; two half -sisters, Sharon Elliot and Donna Jones both of Georgetown, SC; one half brother, Tom Rexrode of Myrtle Beach, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.
Junior was a graduate of Petersburg High School class of 1956. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 78. He worked for Franconia Fuel Supply in Alexandria, VA for several years and moved back to Petersburg in 1969. Junior was owner and operator of Shook’s Electric in Petersburg from 1969 – 2020. He was a member of Rig Assembly of God Church.
Junior and his wife enjoyed the motorcycle rides and going to the beach. He loved to hunt deer and especially turkeys.
Junior’s family will receive friends Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 5-8 PM at Rig Assembly of God Church.
A funeral service will be Thursday 11 AM , February 2, 2023 at Rig Assembly of God Church, 10 Queens Drive, Moorefield, WV with Pastor Brad Taylor and Pastor Lane Lee officiating.
Interment will be in North Mill Creek Cemetery, Petersburg, WV with Military Honors by Grant County Veterans Honor Guard and West Virginia Army Honor Guard.
