John H. Rexrode

John Harold Rexrode, age 95, of Maysville, WV died Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg, WV.

He was born November 20, 1922 in Maysville, WV and was the son of the late Walter Rexrode and Molly (Groves) Rexrode.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Janet (Proudfoot) Rexrode on October 29, 2000; one son, Danny Rexrode; two brothers, Abe Rexrode and Eston Rexrode; four sisters, Betty Bentley, Beulah Sherman, Viola Hedrick and Dorothy Kuhn.

Mr. Rexrode served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a carpenter and worked in various glass factories and later at Mt Storm Power Plant.

Mr. Rexrode is survived by three sons, Steve Rexrode of Petersburg, WV, Johnnie H. Rexrode Jr. of Maysville, WV and Jamey Rexrode of Gainsville, VA; one daughter, Diana Alego of Virginia Beach, VA; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and one sister, Lee Anna Chuck of Petersburg, WV.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 6 - 7 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Doug Rexrode officiating. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery with Military Honors by the Potomac Highlands VFW Post 6454.
