John L. Pratt

John Lee Pratt, age 54 of Purgitsville, WV passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in Hampshire Memorial Hospital in Romney, WV.  He was born September 24, 1965 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of Judy F. (Pratt) Leatherman of Fisher, WV and the late John Lee Reel. 

In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sherri Renee Pratt and half -sister, Libby Ann Reel.

John attended Moorefield High School and was an automobile mechanic and a former employee of Fitzwater Trucking in Moorefield, WV.  He also was known as a “Jack-of-all- trades” who loved to tinker with anything.  John’s passion was fishing especially with his grandchildren. 

John is survived by his former wife and lifelong friend, Helen T. Kifer of Moorefield, WV;  two daughters, Amanda (Josh) Barrett of Wardensville, WV and Heather Pratt of Moorefield, WV;  two grandchildren, Kaden Barrett and Leiliiana Lopez; his girlfriend, Tammy Shingleton of Purgitsville, WV;   one sister, Julie “Sue” Pratt of Fisher, WV; half-sister, Kathy Bobo of Fisher, WV; half-brother, Marshall “Ike” See of Cross Junction,Virginia and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In accordance with John’s wishes, his body will be cremated.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
