John A. Mongold

John Achim Mongold, age 87 of Dorcas, WV passed away Friday, April 17, 2020 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Mr. Mongold was born February 20, 1933 in Masonville, WV and was a son of the late Guy E. Mongold, Sr. and Janet Mae (Sites) Mongold.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mongold was preceded in death by his wife, Alice (Carpenter) Mongold on April 4, 2006; one granddaughter, Talia Mongold.   

John was a graduate of Petersburg High School class of 1951. He served in the United States Army. He retired from the WV Department of Natural Resources after 37 years. John was a poultry farmer for 50 plus years. He was overseer of the Sites Cemetery on Elkhorn Road for several years. He was a member of Sites Chapel United Methodist Church.

John is survived by three sons, Gary A. Mongold of Dorcas, WV and Companion, Connie Miller;  Jeffrey A. Mongold of Dorcas, WV and Mark A. Mongold and wife, Kristi of Dorcas, WV; five grandchildren, Brooke Mongold Nicely and husband, Jason;  Jordan Mongold and wife Victoria;  Joshua Mongold and wife Cassandra;  Jonathan Mongold and wife Megan; and Matthew Mongold and wife Kelsey; fourteen great grandchildren; and his precious dog, Peaches; one sister, Janet Sue Swisher of Austin, Texas; and one brother, Guy E. Mongold, Jr.  of Ellicott City, MD; and several nieces and nephews.

Due to the present health concerns, there will be no visitation. All services and interment will be private.
