John W. Haslacker

John William Haslacker, age 89, of Maysville, WV, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at his residence.  Born in Maysville on June 28, 1933, he was the son of the late Edward Charles Haslacker and Charlotte Gertrude (Feaster) Haslacker.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Oneita D. (Wilt) Haslacker; on November 19, 2018, one son, John Steven Haslacker; son-in-law, David H. Bennett; daughter-in-law, Melody Mae Haslacker and great grandson, Zack Alt; Three Sisters, Anna Strawderman, Hazel Foley and Dorothy Shreve; four brothers, Brooks Haslacker, Warren Haslacker, David Haslacker and Dale Haslacker. John was the last surviving member of his family and the neighborhood boys.   

John was a graduate of Petersburg High School in 1951. He worked at the Petersburg Tannery and provided custom agricultural work and was a Grant County bus driver until 1988.  He was co-owner of Maysville Sales and Service. Of all his life’s experiences, John loved the Youth Activities -- especially the sports bus trips and Tri-County Fair Livestock Programs. 

John was a founding member of the Harmony Baptist Church where he served as Trustee, Deacon and Choir member. 

John is survived by three daughters, Chenita L. Bennett and Pamela A. Bennett all of Maysville, WV and Teresa Sue Kesner and husband Kenneth of York, PA; thirteen grandchildren, Wesley Haslacker, Tucker L. Bennett, Alex Day, Bryan Day, Rhett Haslacker, Rebecca Basley, Brenna Bennett, Samara Mann, Scotti Haslacker, Amanda Belin, Katie Whited, Zebulinne Haslacker and Janice Alt; eighteen great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Haslacker of Lytle, TX.

John’s family will receive friends on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 6-8 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV and additional visitation on Friday at Harmony Baptist Church  from 10 AM till time of service at 11 AM.  Funeral Service will begin at 11 AM with Pastors Gary Crislip and Lynn Rohrbaugh officiating.

Interment will be in Maysville Cemetery.
