Jeannette (Weese) Sions

Jeannette Alt (Weese) Sions, age 90 of Cabins, WV went home to be with her Lord on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV.

Mrs. Sions was born on October 6, 1932 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late Oscar Evers Weese and Bertha Susan (Alt) Weese. In addition to her parents, Jeannette was preceded in death by three sisters, Marguerite Dahmer, Mary Alice Whitehead and Betty Sue Weese; one brother, John David Weese.  Mrs. Sions was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Sions is survived by her husband of 73 years, C. Browning Sions

One daughter Vesta Alexander (David) of Weeki Wachee, Florida                 

One son Bradley Sions (Kay) of Petersburg, WV

Six Grandchildren:  Joshua Alexander, Jill Alexander Bodkins, Jon Alexander, Kevin Sions, Jennifer Sions and Sherry Sions Whetzel.

Fourteen Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sions was a 1950 graduate of Peterburg High School.  She was a faithful member of the Petersburg First Baptist Church where she was pianist and organist for many years, beginning at the age of 15.  Mrs. Sions also sang in the choir. She was a member of the American Baptist Women’s Ministry.  Mrs. Sions was the first pianist at the Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center and was a member of the North Fork Homemakers Club.

Mrs. Sions and her husband traveled to Hawaii, Santo Domingo and many trips to Wyoming, Kansas, and Florida. They enjoyed camping trips, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Sions family will receive friends Thursday from 6 – 8 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.

Funeral service will be Friday, May 5, 2023, at 11 AM at the Petersburg First Baptist Church with Pastor Shannon Earle, Pastor Frank Ketterman and Pastor Kevin Sions.  Interment will follow in the Bayard Cemetery, Bayard, WV.
