Obituary

Hugh “Hughie” Anthony Allen, age 69, of Cabins, WV passed away Thursday, November 18th, 2021 in Morgantown after a short battle with cancer.

He was born on May 12th, 1952 in Cumberland, MD and was the son of the late Hugh Allen and Dora (Crites) Allen of Cabins, WV.

Besides his father, Hughie is preceded in death by his first wife, Diane Carol (Sheaffer) Allen of Petersburg, WV.

Other than his mother, Hughie is survived by one daughter, Heather (Allen) DeHaven and husband Grant of New Bern, NC along with two grandchildren, Sydney and Ryder DeHaven.  He is also survived by two sisters, Cheryl Patricia Allen and Sage Allen, as well as a brother, Mitch Allen.  He had several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Hughie was a graduate of Petersburg High School class of 1971.  After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Caloosahatchee (AO-98) as a radio operator during the Vietnam era.  He returned home and spent many years as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver in the Petersburg area. 

A private service will be scheduled at a later date for his internment at the Lahmansville Cemetery.
