Helen T. Kifer

Helen Teresa Kifer, age 62 of Moorefield, WV passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at the home of her daughter, Amanda Barrett. Helen was born on January 15, 1964 in Middleburg, VA and was the daughter of the late James Kifer and Helen Virginia (Dolby) Kifer. 

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her soulmate, John L. Pratt and an infant daughter, Sherie Renee Pratt and an infant brother, Edward Alben Kifer.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Amanda F. Barrett (Joshua) of Wardensville, WV and Heather Dove (Derek) of Rio, WV; three grandchildren, Kaden James Barrett, Leiliiana Renee Lopez, and Cristal Brooke Dove; two brothers, Jimmy W. Kifer (Shannon) of Old Fields, WV and Douglas Wayne Dolby of Moorefield, WV and special nieces and nephews and great nieces.

Helen was a 1982 graduate of Moorefield High School. She was employed at Prilgrim’s Pride and American Woodmark Corp in Moorefield, WV until her illness. She was known for her cooking and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she was proud of. Helen was a member of Harper’s Chapel of Moorefield, WV.

Helen’s family will receive friends Sunday from 5 – 6 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.

A funeral service will begin at 6 PM with Pastor Bradley “Duke” Thorne.
