Gregory Alan Judy, age 68 of Petersburg, West Virginia passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024 in Petersburg. Born on May 18, 1956 in Cumberland, Maryland, Greg was a son of the late Francis “Doc” and Joan Judy. In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by two brothers, Steven Judy and Kevin Judy and son-in-law, Jim McKenzie.
Greg was a cherished member of the community, known for his dedication and generosity. Greg co-owned Judy’s Drug Store and Arby’s, where he was well-respected for his entrepreneurial spirit. Beyond his business endeavors, Greg was deeply involved in community service. Over the years he was an active volunteer with the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company, the Petersburg Elementary PTO, Grant County EMS, and Habitat for Humanity. His selflessness extended beyond local boundaries; he traveled to New York City to aid in the 911 cleanup and made multiple trips to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, helping those affected by the disaster.
Greg is survived by his loving spouse, Louise Rohrbaugh Judy, daughter Mary Beth Cook and her husband Tony, daughter Megan McKenzie; son Benjamin Judy, and three grandchildren, Madelyn Cook, Jackson Cook and Wren McKenzie.They were his pride and joy! Also surviving two brothers, David (Tammy) Judy and Darryl (Sandy) Judy, two wonderful sisters-in-law,Gin Park and Edie Funderburk and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service to honor Greg’s life will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Lahmansville Cemetery with Pastor Greg Rotruck.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Petersburg Elementary School, memo playground fund, 333 Rig Street, Petersburg, WV 26847, reflecting Greg’s lifelong commitment to supporting local youth and community projects.
