Pastor Gregory Allen Bland, age 63 of Petersburg, WV went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg.
Greg was born on July 16, 1959 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Billy Rush Bland and Hilda Elizabeth (Mauzy) Bland.
Greg is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carol Jean (Whetzel) Bland, 2 sons, Jonathan Gregory Bland and wife Heather of Petersburg, WV and Joshua Nathanael Bland of Winter Garden, Florida; one granddaughter, Lettie Summer Bland; step-mother, Emma Bland of Petersburg, WV; three brothers, Bobby Bland, Billy R. Bland Jr. and wife Teresa, and Jeff Bland all of Dorcas, WV. One half-sister, Beverly Dawn Goldizen and husband Tom of Riverton, WV, one adopted brother, Joseph Bland, one adopted sister, Evelyn Ours and husband Ray of Petersburg, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Greg was a graduate of Petersburg High School in 1977 and graduated from Antietam Bible College in Hagerstown, MD. He first pastored White Pine and Kelley’s Chapel Churches of the Brethren in a yoke parish in Purgittsville, WV. He also pastored the Knobley Church of the Brethren in Antioch, WV and Maysville Bible Brethren in Maysville, WV and Harper’s Chapel in South Fork, WV.
Greg worked for Potomac Highland Guild for several years and was a Walmart greeter at Moorefield for 10 years. His pastime was woodworking as a hobby. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time in the family hunting cabin.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 5 – 8 pm at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.
Funeral service will be Thursday 11 AM in the Chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Howard and Pastor Randy Mongold officiating.
Interment will be in the Brake Cemetery, Petersburg, WV.
