Grant E. Kimble

Grant Edward Kimble, age 76 of Petersburg, WV and formerly of Scherr, WV passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg.

Grant was born on June 20, 1949 in Keyser, WV and was the son of the late Lloyd Warren Kimble and Vauda (Hanlin) Kimble. 

Grant was raised on the family farm until 1965, when he began living with his great aunt, Jessie Kessel Evans and his cousin, Anna Jean Evans.They ran the Evans General Store in Scherr, WV and Grant was proud of the history of the store and continued to assist them. It was a place where neighbors, friends, customers and travelers always found cheerful service and friendly smiles. In short, after their deaths, Grant continued to keep the store and post office running. Grant’s health declined and for the past three years, he was a resident of Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center.

Grant is survived by his sister, Naomi Kimble of Scherr, WV and several cousins including Gary and Sharon Thorne of Petersburg, WV and his friend, Louise Keplinger.

In Honoring Grant’s wishes, graveside services will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 11 AM at Maysville Cemetery with Pastor Paul Goldizen officiating.

Interment will follow in Maysville Cemetery.
